This Weekend:
Shiprock and Anchordog
brought to you by C3’s Jackie Vitale, a slew of Valley artists, and some real cute kids
It’s time to adventure. So pack up your satchel, tune the old marimba, and let’s all go and get lost outside. For anyone looking for a good old-fashioned epic quest, we recommend Shiprock and Anchordog, an adventure musical for all ages. This new work of exploratory musical theater is a collaboration between 14 brilliant and rambunctious children and a team of local musicians, performers, and visual artists.
Based on a song cycle by Valley nice man Evan Curran, Shiprock and Anchordog tells the tale of two lovable and determined pups who leave their home in the desert to embark upon an epic quest in search of food security. In this production, the audience too will follow the dogs on a collective journey, moving through a labyrinth of cargo trains, blueberry fields,
oceans, and forests. The adventure will incorporate live music, dance, and puppetry and will culminate in a picnic dinner on the farm. Shiprock and Anchordog is a celebration of the story-as-journey.
The performance will take place at the new home of Stone Soup Farm at 81 Rocky Hill Rd. in Hadley on
Friday, May 27th at 5pm
Saturday, May 28th at 4pm
Sunday, May 29th at 4pm
Tickets will be sold at the door on a sliding scale of $10-25. Children 4 and under are free. Dinner is included in the price. This is an outdoor, moving performance, so sturdy shoes and bug spray are recommended. Parking is limited, so consider carpooling.
