Over the past 25 years, Pleasant Street Video in Northampton has built an impressive film library serving film lovers from all over New England. Whether you prefer documentaries or Doctor Strangelove, Capra or cult classics, the latest from Sundance or films from Hollywood’s golden age, Pleasant St. had your favorites.
Sadly, the video store has fallen victim to online competition and will close this July. But the video collection can live on … with your help.
If we can raise $60,000 in the next few weeks, Pleasant Street Video’s 8,000 films will move permanently to Northampton’s Forbes Library. That would triple the library’s DVD collection, and keep Pleasant Street’s films including many rare and out-of-print titles available to the local community, free. The more we raise, the more movies we can keep local and accessible.
We need your help.
For each $8 donated, one DVD will be added to the Forbes collection.
Tax-deductible donations of any size are welcome, but please donate today. We must act quickly to save the entire collection.
You can write a check payable to Forbes Library, and mail to Forbes Library, Attn: PSV Fund, 20 West St., Northampton MA 01060.
