While both artists identify themselves as sculptors, this project moves well beyond classical notions of studio art. The central aspect of this fascinating and complex project will be a two week journey during which Aim\u00c3\u00a9e and Nora will travel to a series of (as of yet unknown) private homes. Once they reach their daily destination Aim\u00c3\u00a9e and Nora will collaborate with their host(s) in the creation of a sculpture. And that&#8217;s just the beginning. The project also includes an ever-changing gallery installation, daily creation of soundscapes and blog entries, and much much more.<\/p>\n<p>And you can be a part of it all NEXT WEEK when you attend the opening event of <em>mapping sites<\/em>. Beginning with artists&#8217; talks at 7pm, the opening event will take place on September 9th at the Oresman Gallery in the Smith College Fine Arts Complex. From this event, Aim\u00c3\u00a9e and Nora will begin their two-week journey. In the spirit of collaborative art-making, you are invited to bring some food to share at the reception&#8230;potluck style.<\/p>\n<p>THIS WEEK you can prepare yourself for the opening event by checking out my <em>mapping sites<\/em> inspired map that details my interview with these two amazing artists.
